Day 4, Busy Day!

Well this morning we woke up, ate breakfast with dad and then we were on our own for the day. AAAAHHHH. That was all I could think this morning as Robert left. But, we did really good on our own out in the city!

First we went to the room to wait out some of the morning commuters. I didn't want to get in there way! Aiden took a morning nap and then we were off!

We walked from our hotel to the Lincoln Memorial. I thought it was a great idea to walk about 1 & 1/2 miles, that is until I got about 1/2 mile away from the Metro stop and it was too late to go back!

Here is Aiden at the Lincoln Memorial. There is a little info center where the elevator is, it is heated so we stayed there for a little bit and warmed up.
Once we got to the top where Abe is we took some pictures and were about to leave, when... We saw some security guards escorting people out of the memorial. I was a little scared that something was going on, but then I that they had signs (protest signs). So I continued taking pics of Aiden. Then a young college aged student walked up to me and asked if she could take a picture with Aiden. I just looked at her strangely as she explained that today was a Pro-Life march to the Capitol. GGGRRREEEEAAAATTTT!!!

I told her no she couldn't take a picture with my son for that purpose and many more. I started walking away, she tried to start preaching and I just kept walking. WOW, it is going to be a great day!!! It's not that I am not Pro-Life, it is that I am not Pro-Lecturing people on my thoughts and having others push there ideals onto me!!

We walked down to the Vietnam Memorial and I then realized that every person around me had some sort of ProLife T-shirt, sign, button something!
Here is Aiden at the Vietnam Memorial!
Then we started walking to the museum mall area! There were 1000s of people in the Pro Life march, I had to maneuver my way through the 1000s of people and finally got to the Natural History Museum! We saw Dinosaurs, Mammals, Insects and all kinds of stuff!!!

Here is Aiden with a Triceratops head.
A Brontosaurus Femur.
A Mammoth.

Here he is with a National Geographic Award Winning Bear picture!
And, here he is playing with another little boy in the insect section!!

We even saw the Hope Diamond!!
Then we went outside and the rally was really going,
so we stopped in front of the Smithsonian Castle for a picture, he is asleep in this one.
While he was sleeping I thought I would try to see some of the Holocaust museum. I got about 1/2 way through and he woke up and started making a little noise. He wasn't bad or anything, just being a 14 month old and I didn't want to disturb anyone.

So then we got on the Metro and headed home! It was just in time, about 4:00. Because, it was already getting a little busy.

Then, we waited for dad, ate dinner, and put him to bed. We had a very busy day, tomorrow we are hoping that there isn't a Pro Choice rally!! But whatever we find tomorrow morning it, we will just take it in stride!!

Love to all,
Sarah

I am so proud of you - you little adventurous thing:). I would bet there is a rally about something almost every day in DC. You did the right thing and just plow through them. Hope you have a fun day today and be careful. Love you, Grandma Gail

Sarah,
Wow you got to witness history in its raw form. Good job on making it through. We saw the same things at the Natural History Museum but I know it must have been more fun seeing Aiden observing them.

I know you are having a great time and Aiden looks like he is keeping warm.

Have a great time. Can't wait to see more pictures.

Love,
Patty
