Don't Panic

18 months: Saying 50 words; using verbs; asking "What's that?" to get name recognition

I read this today on Parents.com and am a little worried. We need to start reading more or something. I know that bilingual children develop language slower, but still am a little worried. I also know that each kid develops at their own rate.

Current words:
Mama (everything is mama) (food, drink, something he wants, me)
Dada (Robert)
Nana (Robert's mom - Connie)
Gigi (Great Grandmother - Dana)
Papa (food or grandfathers)
Wawa (dogs, which when you say dog he understands and says wawa)
Baba (Ball)
Lela (Elena or Lola)
Ego (Diego)
Oush (Ouch).

That's about it. He definitely doesn't say verbs or "What's that?".

I am sure that he will catch up, but maybe we really do need to start working on this a little more.

He had his 18 month Doctors appointment this morning and got his Hep A shot. :( I wish I would have read that yesterday to ask Robert to bring it up with Dr. Phillip. Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda.

Well, tonight starts 18 month old home-work lessons. Just Kidding - Surely he will catch up or just call everything Mama for the rest of his life!! After all, Mama is a great word.

I have said that to myself many times. From when I diagnosed her at 6 months with autism to now she has obediant defiant dissorder! Girl does not listen to me ever!!! She is not saying words together and her buddy down the street that is 3 weeks older isn't saying more either. I think they send those things out to make us panic...it does because tomorrow we are starting our words flashcards about how to put words together!!! Isn't it great all teh worry we now have? But I would not change it for the world.
