Breathing Update
Allergies/Congestion! That's what the doctor said this morning. She thinks it is just because of the current weather and blooming conditions and should pass. So, we were given samples of a decongestant and told to start using a humidifier at night. I don't really like or believe in humidifiers, when Aiden was young we had one in his room and it didn't really seem to help and if you don't keep them clean then you are just making things worse by adding bacteria into the air. And, Aiden broke the humidifier and I don't really want to spend $30 on another one.
She also said that at Aiden's age that a daily allergy medicine like Claritin or Zyrtec won't be very effective, I guess it is how they metabolize stuff at this age. She said they are more effective for age 3 and up.
I asked "What if 10 days from now (when the decongestant is finished) his breathing isn't better?" "What about the snoring?" "Could it be a tonsil problem?" "Sleep Apnea?" She pretty much said, we will take it one step at a time and see if it is just congestion at this point and see if the meds help, if not we will go from there.
So, we got home and gave him his decongestant and we will see how it goes. I just don't want him to have a problem breathing and it be something like enlarged tonsils that are causing breathing problems, but I'm not a doctor, just a research coordinator, so I'll stick with what the doctor says. For Now! :)
